The 79th Golden Globe Awards were held again in Beverly Hills, California, Sunday (9/1/2022) evening local time.
Oh Young Soo, the Squid Game actor became the first Korean actor to win an individual trophy at this award event.
Oh Young Soo won Best Supporting Actor in the television division for his role as Oh Il Nam in the Netflix series Squid Game.
Quoting Soompi, Oh Young Soo was nominated alongside Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass in The Morning Show, Kieran Culkin in Succession, and Brett Goldstein in Ted Lasso.
Through Netflix, Oh Young Soo delivered his victory speech. The 77-year-old actor is proud of his achievements.
“After hearing the news of the award, I said to myself for the first time in my life, ‘I’m a good man,'” he said.
“Now, it’s no longer ‘We are in the world’, but ‘The world that is within us’. While embracing the scent of our culture and while embracing the love for my family deep in my heart, I thank everyone.” .
He then hopes that everyone can live a beautiful life. His victory speech closed with a thank you.
Squid Game was also nominated for Best Television Series – Drama, while Lee Jung Jae has been nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama.
